Great restaurant! Great pizza!! Moderately priced, with plenty of open seating during the winter months.
Ordered a pizza for 2 people and I almost ate the entire pizza by myself -

Returned a second evening for dinner, regretted not having prefer take away for the next day.
Exquisite service and divine food
Calzone and pizza. Thank you for the fabulous memories -

We ordered two takeaway pizzas. The stuff was edible, but nothing special. Not so friendly staff. Therefore 3 stars only.

Tried this restaurant based on all the positive reviews it received on Yelp saying how amazing the pizza was and how it was some of the best people have tried in Italy. We've been here for 2 weeks and have had pizza at 8 different locations throughout Italy prior to this and this was by far the worst. The crust was thin, crunchy, had no flavor (except the burnt sections). The sauce was minimal and lacked flavor and the cheese also lacked flavor. All in all was very bland. I know service at restaurants in Italy is different than America as they tend to just wait on you to call them for something but this service was really sub par. Waiter stopped by twice the entire time we were there. To take our original order and deliver pizza. There's no way wed ever recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting.

If you're looking for a traditional pizzeria, not a fancy restaurant, this is the place! Besides the enticing smells as you walk past, you are drawn in by the inviting and casual look of the place. It is in a very central location in Sorrento, close to the town square and access to the port. I'm from NY, so the pizzerias I am used to are very casual and have an almost communal, neighborhood feel to them. I immediately felt the same when I walked into Pizzeria Da Franco. When you enter, there are table with benches scattered throughout and large prosciutto hams hanging from above, very similar to a deli. They have a great selection of wine and beer which I took advantage of after a long walk thru Sorrento. The house red wine is simple, medium-bodied and has a nice finish. Definitely worth a taste. Our lunch started with an appetizer of caciocavallo, a local cheese from Sorrento. I normally only eat this at holiday times back home and was excited to see it on the menu as an appetizer. It was creamy and probably 1000 times better than what we have back in NY (imports from Arthur Ave are noteworthy but not a contender). We chose 2 pizzas, both made for one person, one with prosciutto and potatoes and the other with fresh roma tomatoes, bufala mozzarella and arugula. They were both equally delicious in their own way. The one with the potatoes had such flavor and contrast with the prosciutto. It brought out the flavor in the potatoes. The one with the arugula was simple, yet classic and fresh! The crust was thin and cooked perfectly and although we thought we wouldn't finish both, WE DID! There was not a crumb left on the plate. Well done Pizzeria Da Franco. You are a hidden gem in Sorrento!
